Scott Young brings a unique vision and collaborative energy to every project he works on. Specializing in docu-style and visual storytelling, he’s shaped hundreds of campaigns for powerhouse brands like Google, Meta, Salesforce, Airbnb, Boeing, and Yamaha Motorcycles - just to name a few. His award-winning work has turned heads at major film festivals and earned coverage in Adweek, Variety, and Shoot.
Originally a kid who played drums from Boston, Young’s rock & roll band chased the dream all the way to Los Angeles where things fell apart in spectacular fashion. Alone in the big city, he hustled his way into a post production house where he answered phones, stocked the fridge, and discovered a passion for editing. Much like a drummer, editors tell a story through rhythm and rarely get the credit they deserve… a perfect fit! Seizing every opportunity, Young quickly climbed the ranks, working alongside A-list directors with artists like Wu-Tang Clan, Michael Jackson, Foo Fighters, and Jay-Z.
Young’s evolution into directing gained national attention with Shooting Star, an award-winning documentary about a senior women’s basketball league that premiered at Sundance and screened at film festivals worldwide. He then went on to build a solid body of advertising work, often editing and producing the projects he directed.
Eventually Young left the LA thunder-dome for the inspiring beauty of the Bay Area, where he now calls a house-boat in Sausalito headquarters.
🚀 UPDATE JANUARY 2025 - The past two years have been a refreshing deep dive into long-form, documentary storytelling. This year, I’m gearing up for another wonderful collaboration with Kingston Media to capture the 100-year legacy of Santa Clara. Pre-production is also underway for an epic retelling of the Donner Summit, a story packed with history, resilience, and adventure.
