Specializing in Docu-Style, Visual Storytelling, and Comedy… Scott Young has Edited and/or Directed hundreds of broadcast and social media campaigns for clients including GOOGLE, META, SALESFORCE, AIRBNB, HYUNDAI, LG, BOEING, and YAMAHA MOTORCYCLES to name a few. His award winning body of work has also been featured in ADWEEK, VARIETY, and SHOOT.
Originally from Boston, Young’s rock & roll band broke up shortly after they arrived in Los Angeles. This twist of fate eventually delivered him to a post house where he answered phones, stocked the fridge, and discovered a passion for editing. Young quickly climbed the editorial ranks, honing his craft on numerous projects for many of the industry’s A-list directors and recording artists (Wu-Tang Clan, Michael Jackson, Dave Grohl, Jay-Z).
Eventually Young graduated to directing, gaining national attention when he wrote - directed - edited “Shooting Star”, an award winning documentary about a senior women’s basketball league. The film debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and screened at many festivals and special events throughout the world. He then went on to build a solid body of commercial work, often editing the projects he directed.
“I excel at collaborating with different creative voices while developing smart workflows, especially in the remote world. I love to teach -- I never stop learning -- I live on a house-boat -- I think every office should have at least one big dog in it.” - SY
UPDATE JUNE 2023 - Scott is currently in production/post production on two short films with KINGSTON MEDIA and UMLAUT FILMS. One is about Domestic Violence Prevention and (at the other end of the spectrum) the History of San Francisco’s historical venue… the Cow Palace.
